We are thrilled to announce Synera and PanOptimization have collaborated to connect PanOptimization's PanX solver to Synera's automation platform for engineers. This collaboration will provide Synera users direct access to PanX's powerful simulation capabilities through the Synera marketplace, enabling engineers to create comprehensive optimization workflows for metal additive manufacturing.
Powerful Simulation Technology from PanOptimization
PanOptimization's thermomechanical Finite Element solver PanX optimizes and improves print outcomes, resulting in increased part quality and throughput as well as decreased lost time, resources, and money that result from failed builds. PanX utilizes a novel and unique Multi-Grid Modeling approach that dramatically improves simulation accuracy and scalability for both LPBF and DED processes. The solver can analyze extremely complex geometries that would be impossible to mesh (let alone solve) using traditional FE approaches, while requiring significantly less computational resources - many simulations can be run on a typical engineering laptop.
Agentic Engineering Platform with Synera
Synera's platform enables engineering organizations to create and deploy collaborative AI agents that function as engineering experts, supplementing teams and autonomously addressing product development tasks. The platform's easy-to-use visual editor allows engineers to automate at multiple complexity levels – from simple task, to complex AM end-to-end workflows thanks to fully-fledged multi-agent systems that seamlessly integrate with tools like PanOptimization’s PanX.
The initial PanX connector for Synera will provide comprehensive capabilities:
- Running PanX simulations directly from Synera
- Importing and processing simulation results
- Updating existing analysis templates
- Reviewing results within the Synera interface
- Performing automated distortion compensation
This will enable users to create end-to-end optimization workflows for metal additive manufacturing, reducing the risk of part distortion and recoater blade interference for complex components during the printing process. Combined with other additive manufacturing solutions in the Synera marketplace, users can manage the complete
AM workflow from design to production thanks to connections to other tools like , Hexagon’s AM Studio and Emendate, EOSPrint from EOS, Intact.Simulation from Intact Solutions, Additive Design Toolkit from Fraunhofer IAPT, CDS’s Cognitive Design, and more.
Driving Industrial Adoption of AM
Together Both companies see this collaboration as a direct response to additive manufacturing engineers' needs for more efficient, automated simulation capabilities. The connection between PanX and Synera's platform represents a continuation of trend in the AM industry towards more collaboration to bring the industry forward.
"Our customers are already transforming their engineering operations with Synera by removing repeatitive work that all engineers dread and enabling companies to standardize and digitize their processes. Adding PanOptimization's powerful simulation capabilties enables our users to create comprehensive AM workflows that predict and prevent build failures, allowing AI agents to automously optimize complex designs with less human intervention." - Andrew Sartorelli, Partner & Product Management Lead at Synera
This focus on practical automation and customer needs aligns perfectly with PanOptimization's vision for their technology:

"In developing PanX we have taken an expansive view on simulation’s role in AM, moving beyond just distortion prediction and into applications including process parameter optimization and topology optimization for manufacturability Collaborating with Synera allows us to connect this capability directly to where engineers need it - as part of automated workflows that can run continuously without manual intervention. Together, we're making advanced simulation accessible and practical for everyday manufacturing." - Erik Denlinger, Ph.D., Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at PanOptimization
The PanX connector will be available in the Synera marketplace in Q2 2025, with early access available to select customers beginning in April.
About PanOptimization
PanOptimization was founded to address the current simulation and optimization needs of the AM market; to simulate parts of extreme geometric complexity and to not just predict print outcomes but to improve/optimize them. Traditional AM simulation tools do not address these needs. PanOptimization licenses the PanX solver (a finite element based engineering software) to users in the aerospace and defense, biomedical, and CAE industries, as well as machine OEMs and universities.
